Well-loved Pasir Ris Greenbelt cleared in two weeks

Happy about the further conservation work the government has declared on the historic Queenstown neighbourhood?

We were, too, but that didn’t last long.

We just got wind that the Pasir Ris Greenbelt has been cleared despite residents’ desperate call to keep it in the neighbourhood.

What used to be a charming little woodland inhabited by red-breasted parakeets, white-bellied sea eagles and of course, rich foliage, is now a barren wasteland that will soon be enveloped in scaffolding.

According to the Urban Redevelopment Authority, an Overseas Family School will be built there.

The team behind the Pasir Ris Greenbelt Facebook group has put together a video dedicated to the beauty of the now-lost piece of nature, as well as all the work that was involved in conserving it
