Tiong Bahru residents, unhappy with cases of illegal parking in the area, have launched the ‘Is this your grandfather’s road?’ campaign, which involves disseminating information about alternative parking spaces to motorists.
Put together by the Tiong Pagar-Tiong Bahru Citizens’ Consultative Committee (CCC) and Seng Poh Residents’ Committee (RC), the information comes in the form of pamphlets and banner reminders.
The campaign is also said to serve as a platform to inform and remind visitors of Tiong Bahru’s historical background.
Though buzzy modern outlets like 40 Hands, Books Actually, Flea & Trees, Nimble & Knead and Ikyu have contributed the old school neighbourhood’s gentrification, Tiong Bahru is still home to some prominent roads named after the country’s pioneers.
