Gallery: Starbucks launches 100th Singapore store in iconic Fullerton Waterboat House

Starbucks launched their newest Singapore store on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

The location of the new store within the iconic Fullerton Waterboat House is beautiful to say the least, but accompanied by carefully thought out interior decor, it’s a perfect celebration of Starbucks’ 100th set-up in the Lion City.B esides being located in the heart of the arts and financial districts of Singapore, the outlet also takes on a nautical theme, reflecting the city’s maritime past. Singaporean artist Ly Yeow has lent a hand to the decor to give it a further nostalgic edge — close to the store entrance is a depiction of six samsui women, complementing the wall of ’90s photo replicas near the seating area.

The Fullerton Waterboat House store, which features a split bar that encourages human interaction, is also the first time Starbucks is employing baristas (or ‘partners’ in Starbucks-speak) from a non-profit organisation.

Six members of the staff at this outlet have been hired through the Autism Resource Centre (ARC).

As part of Starbucks Singapore’s continuous efforts to train and equip people with autism with workforce skills, the company is also selling tumblers designed by a Pathlight School student and donating $5 from the sale of each tumbler to the ARC. The tumbler is available exclusively at the Fullerton Waterboat House outlet.

Starbucks’ 100th store in Singapore is at #02-01/02/03 Fullerton Waterboat House, 3 Fullerton Rd.

And in case you’re wondering, there’ll be free WiFi soon.
