Far East Movement headlines Singapore’s first ever Songkran celebration in April

You don’t have to go to Thailand for the Songkran Festival (the traditional way of ringing in the New Year with attendees splashing water and talc onto each other) this year, because Singapore’s getting one of our own.

Jointly organised by JBozz Consultants and TJ Eventz, Celebrate Songkran (April 12 — 13) — touted as the largest water festival celebration party in Singapore — will feature the H20 Music Fest, headlined by Korean-American hip hop quartet Far East Movement.

The phase 1 lineup also includes regional acts like Thai pop groups FFK, Four-Mod and Neko Jump, New York DJ and music producer Visionaire and Korean actress Nam Gyuri.

Singapore’s own Ming Bridges will also be performing.

The two-day Celebrate Songkran event held at The Padang will also see a muay thai tournament, day and night markets, as well as an all-day games carnival.

Though Songkran is in some way a celebration of the end of dry season, Singapore’s in no place to be wasting gallons of water — the lucky rain we’ve been having is the first in months — so let’s hope the water pistols they’re planning are minimal.

Parts of the festival are free-for-all, but tickets to the H20 Music Festival are available on the event website for $35 — 140.
