Fight breaks out in foreign workers’ dorm over cricket match

A fight broke out at a foreign worker dormitory in Kaki Bukit on the night of March 25.

13 workers were arrested for being involved in what seemed to be a tussle of the evening’s televised cricket match between Bangladesh and the West Indies, who won the game.

A Mr. Chanthanakrishnan Chethapati told Channel NewsAsia that he had gone to sleep at 8:30pm that night.

“At about 3 o’clock, the police came, There was a cricket match… I don’t know who supported who, but there were two men fighting,” he had said.

Workers have told CNA that the police used CCTV footage to see which specific individuals had gotten involved, as well as if anyone got injured.

No damage to property nor admission into the hospital have been reported.
