Two men related to MRT molest cases arrested

Two men have been arrested for two separate molest cases on the MRT.

In the first case which happened on March 15, a 33-year-old suspect molested his victim as she was travelling up the escalator at Serangoon MRT station. The suspect fled when the victim tried to confront him. After a report was made, police were able to establish the culprit’s identity through extensive investigations, which led to his arrest on April 13.

For the second case on April 14, a 41-year-old suspect took advantage of his victim on board a morning train travelling from Yishun to Ang Mo Kio. The suspect was immediately confronted by an eyewitness and subsequently detained by station staff until police arrived to make the arrest.

Investigations against the 33-year-old suspect are on-going, while the 41-year-old was charged in court yesterday.

For outrage of modesty, both suspects may be jailed for a maximum of two years or fined, and caned.
