Launch a million ‘speak proper [insert important language] campaigns if you want, but Singaporeans love their Singlish.

So when a story like this — backed up or not — comes out, they don’t think twice about attacking the ‘share’ button.

According to TR Emeritus, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) had sent pilots to the United States to take part in their Red Flag combat exercise.

For the first three days, the F-16 pilots kept getting ambushed by the United States Air Force (USAF) F-15s no matter how organised or prepared they were.

When they discovered the USAF officers were eavesdropping on their conversations, they switched to using Singlish.

It was a success — the F-15s stopped penetrating their defence.

Real or not, this one’s a winner, even if it does reek of nationalism.
