Singapore still best country for business

Singapore is the best country for doing business in 2014-18, according to the Business Environment Rankings produced by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

It has ranked first from 2009.

According to EIU’s report, equal opportunities for local and overseas firms and a favourable attitude towards foreign investment will remain the city state’s biggest strengths.

Its ongoing success “has been driven, in part, by its ability to attract foreign multinational companies” and will be fuelled by continued development of “bilateral and multilateral free-trade agreements”, which “broaden and deepen market access for Singaporeans firms”.

The report suggests that while Singapore is still at risk of terrorist group attacks, its political environment is expecte to remain highly stable.

Singapore’s score for institutional effectiveness in the rankings is unmatched by any other country in the world.
