Spectators of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix finals at the Marina Bay area last night were shrouded in haze as the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading surged into the “unhealthy” range.
The 3-hour PSI readings were steady in the moderate range throughout the day, but entered the unhealthy limit of 116 at 8pm, then 129 an hour later.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) said that prevailing winds blowing smoke haze from Sumatra were accounted for the haziness. 64 and 73 hotspots were detected in Sumatra and Kalimantan respectively.
As for today’s PSI forecast, NEA expects the overall air quality to fluctuate between high-end of the “moderate” range (51 – 100) and low-end of the “unhealthy” range (101 – 200).
