Orchard Road to be sectioned off every first Saturday for street party series

Pedestrian Night on Orchard Road will see a section of the world famous shopping strip temporarily inaccessible to vehicles on the first Saturday of every month from Oct. 4 – March 2015.

The initiative launched by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and the Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA), will see the road closure lasting from 6pm to 11pm.

This pilot project will transform the area between Scotts Paterson Junction (Singapore Marriott Hotel) and Bideford Junction (Paragon shopping centre) into a massive integrated community space for the public to enjoy activities like street tennis and mass yoga.

Happening first is Tennis Pops Up @ Orchard Road on Oct. 4. Participants can expect a fun-packed programme consisting of tennis clinics, game booths and live demo matches. Local acts such as Jack and Rai will also be performing at the two-hour event from 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
