Maria Sharapova, recently ranked no. 2 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association, will attend a meet-and-greet in Singapore on Oct. 15 at 7:30pm, to launch her most recent labour of love, Sugarpova.
The 27-year-old confesses she’s always had a sweet tooth and used to ask her parents for a lollipop after a good practice on the tennis court. “It was that little treat I looked forward to,” she wrote on the Sugarpova website. “And here I am many years later hoping to get a sweet treat after a good practice.”
She also admitted that being a little part of other people’s work — “projects, collections, collaborations, shoots” — made her realise she wanted to start something on her own.
Sugarpova candy come in nine varieties labelled with characteristics less commonly linked to the international star, such as Cheeky, Flirty and Splashy. Each has a sweet and sour option.
Sugarpova gumballs, gummies, soft chews will be available at the new Robinsons Orchard at The Heeren, for $7 per 142g packet.
