New problems arise as Uber operates second round of free rides in Singapore

From now till midnight, Uber users in Singapore can attempt to book an UberTaxi via their mobile app and get sent to their intended destination for free.

We say “attempt” because there’s no sure way to know you’ll get one, and even if you do, you’re most definitely going to be late for your next appointment.

Granted, complaints by users — mostly new registrants — have decreased, possiby because they’ve added “a ton of new cars to accommodate more riders”, but there are still some who’ve been left with a bad taste in their mouth, having been unable to get a free ride, much less two, all day.

Several have also complained on Facebook of the app crashing on them, like when they were moving through an underground expressway, so drivers were unable to retrieve the information needed to claim money from the Uber system. It is not known if these passengers ended up having to pay for the ride.

Others say they’ve been unable to even operate the app, as the verification code promised to complete the registration never arrived.

Still, if you’re one of the lucky few who get to claim your ride on the UberTaxi (you’ve got about seven hours left!) without any glitches, you can pretty much write it off as a really awesome day.
