Hostess Weekender cancelled, but Jon Hopkins and Wild Beasts will play on

Indie music fans may have been severely dismayed by not one, but two cancellations of the highly anticipated Hostess Club Weekender concerts, where they could have caught the likes of Cat Power, Kaiser Chiefs and Blonde Redhead live.

Independent music promoters in Singapore however are taking things into their own hands and bringing the acts here themselves for us all to enjoy — electronic music wizard Jon Hopkins and art rock outfit Wild Beasts will still be playing in Singapore come November.

The party people at No Party Here are the folks you have to thank if you’re a fan of Jon Hopkins’ stunningly intelligent dance music. Peforming live in the Nomad Series at Canvas, the UK producer will be sure to bring his organically digital sounds yet again to the shores of Singapore. Performing at The Substation two years ago with audio-visual collective Syndicate, Hopkins will now return armed with a kaleidoscope of new beats and riffs from his widely-acclaimed 2013 album Immunity in an dance-fuelled experience like no other on Nov. 7.

On the more indie rock side of the spectrum, Wild Beasts will be performing live at Beep Studios on Nov. 8, courtesy of Symmetry Entertainment. The English quartet have been hard at work ever since the release of their fourth studio album Present Tense earlier in February, touring and performing in various festivals around the world. Fans and critics have fallen in love with their refreshingly inventive approach to indie rock music, and their grandeur amplifies several sizes further on the live arena.
