Amoy Street Food Centre closed for upgrading from December

Amoy Street Food Centre will be closed for renovation from Dec. 1 to Feb. 28, 2015, according to various reports.

The double-storey, 1,000-seat hawker centre last went through standard upgrading in 2003.

Though its competitor, the Maxwell Food Centre, is a mere couple of blocks away, regular customers will surely miss the variety of food here.

The favourite CBD lunchtime haunt consists of 135 stalls selling not just ethnic staple dishes such as chicken rice, fish soup, lor mee, nasi briyani and nasi lemak, but also Western and elevated chow like pick-and-mix salads (B Salad Kitchen, #01-37), Singapore-style ramen (Noodle Story, #01-39) and the authentic Costa Rican burrito (Mamacitas, #01-50). There’s even Coffee Break (#02-78), which shakes up your regular kopi with flavours like hazelnut and toffee.
