Fake gold ingot scammers charged in court

The three men arrested for their attempt to sell fake gold-coloured ingots have been charged in the State Courts yesterday.

The three Chinese nationals are on social visit passes and have been in Singapore for a month, TODAY reports.

Court documents revealed that they attempted to convince their target Tay Hai Choon into paying $120,000 for their ‘discovered’ treasure with the intention of selling him 199 gold-coloured ingots and six gold-coloured smiling Buddha mini statues — all of which were fakes.

The conmen are believed to be involved in other similar cases and are currently in remand for police investigations before returning to court on Dec. 4.
