Coconuts TV: The hunt for Singapore’s serial cat killer

Is there a serial cat killer on the loose in Singapore? Residents on one estate think so. It’s become somewhat of an urban myth. A lone wolf stalking little kitties under the cloak of night.

We wanted to scratch beneath the surface of the alleged abuses. To find out if there’s any truth in the tale, watch this video and read the following report. We’ll let you decide.

Truth in the tale

Since 2011, a group of concerned residents and elderly cat feeders report more than 50 dead and mutilated carcasses have been found on the Beach Road Estate in Kallang.

The most recent case was in September. A cat found stabbed.

Fed up with the abuse, one shop owner recently launched the website Save Beach Road Cats pleading for help. Anthony Hong is the man behind the site. And he claims residents on the estate know who the killer is, but there’s simply not enough evidence.

The Cat Welfare Society, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore have all asked for willing witnesses to come forward with concrete video or photo evidence, or with any information related to the killings.

So far the case has run cold. No one has ever been linked to any of the reported cases from the area.

But numerous people we spoke to from all over Singapore believe the deaths are undoubtedly the handiwork of a serial cat killer.

This Coconuts TV video is a call to action for people who witness animal abuse to come forward.
