Video: Order of events leading to disappearance of AirAsia flight QZ8105 revealed in press conference

The first press conference held on the morning of Dec. 28 to detail the disappearance of AirAsia flight QZ8105 is now available for viewing on the Astro Awani website. 

In the 16-minute video, representatives from the Malaysian-based budget carrier as well as the Indonesian transport ministry revealed the chronological order of events that led to the official loss of contact over the Java Sea:

6:12am WIB – WIB (Western Indonesian time – 7.12am Singapore time) – The flight requests permission to avoid clouds around it, then requests to go up to 38,000 feet 

6:16am WIB – The flight is still detectable on radar

6:17am WIB – Flight drops off radar, loses contact with air traffic control

6:18am WIB – Realisation that the flight has dropped off radar and possibly gone off the flight path
