23-year-old Singaporean picked to model for Marc Jacobs

Marc by Marc Jacobs has selected 23-year-old Singaporean Nadia Rahmat to feature in its Spring/Summer campaign after crowdsourcing entries from Instagram.

Nadia, who’s a freelance model and has fronted campaigns by local labels like Mash-up and Yesah, said she saw the the ad for the Instagram casting while reading Oyster magazine back in September last year.

She wrote in a blog post detailing her experience: “Curious, I decided to check out the previous talents for the first casting they did for their 2014 fall campaign. Cool I thought. Wouldn’t hurt to join right?”

Nadia then tagged one of her Instagram pictures with #CastMeMarc as instructed in the ad, then “off (she) went with life as (she) always (did)” until a direct message came from the Establisment agency in New York.

The rest, as they say, is history. In New York, Nadia met the other entries for a second round of casting, and was one out of only two contestants from Asia — the other was Eun Bi from South Korea — selected to take the final campaign shots.
