An elderly woman met with an unfortunate collision with a rubbish truck yesterday while riding her bicycle, leaving her trapped under the huge vehicle while waiting for rescue to arrive.
The New Paper reported that the accident occurred at the carpark entrance at 314 Yishun Ring Road around 11.40am yesterday. The woman, who appeared to be in her 60s, had one of her legs trapped between the truck and her bicycle.
Initially, the truck driver and other passers-by attempted to extricate her but stopped for fear of inducing further injuries.
The woman was calm and conscious when the ambulance arrived to convey her to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. She sustained only minor injuries on her arms and legs.
