20 more shiny new speed cameras to be installed island-wide

The Traffic Police are sickened by the increase in the number of speed-related traffic accidents and corresponding fatalities over the past year, and they’re combatting it by announcing plans to install 20 more speed cameras island-wide.

In conjunction with their ‘Safer Roads Singapore’ action plan, they’ll begin installing digital speed enforcement cameras at 11 locations across the country in March, and all 20 of them will be operational by end-2015.

Locations such as Holland Road, Yishun Avenue 2, Bukit Batok Road and more will be hosting these devices.

Features of these spiffy new cameras include 24/7 weather-proof operation, faster processors and enhanced features that can simultaneously detect up to 32 vehicles at the same time.

These speed cameras won’t be stealthy though. The cameras are said to sport bright colours with reflective tapes so that they’ll be visible day and night. In case that’s not enough to deter motorists, prominent speed camera zone signages will also be erected.
