There were no major surprises for Singapore at last night’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards — except for Burnt Ends making it to the list, for the first time, at number 30.
The casual diner is a collaboration between restaurateur Loh Lik Peng and chef Andre Chiang, whose own Restaurant Andre retained its S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Singapore award for the second year in a row; it is also on the number 5 spot, moving up by one slot from last year.
Here’s the complete list of restaurants in Singapore who made it to this year’s 50 Best list:
– 5: Restaurant Andre (up from No 6)
– 9: Waku Ghin (down from No 7)
– 11: Jaan (up from No 17)
– 13: Les Amis (up from No 14)
– 18: Iggy’s (down from No 12)
– 30: Burnt Ends (new entry)
– 32: Shinji by Kanesaka (up from No 35)
– 36: Tippling Club (down from No 23)
– 45: Osteria Mozza (returning from No 35 in 2013)
– 47: Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck (down from No 40)
This year’s best restaurant is Gaggan by chef Gaggan Anand in Bangkok, Thailand.
Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, has been an annual event since 2013. The awards ceremony last night was held at Capella Hotel.
There was a change in the voting system this year, with a 300 panelists from across Asia casting their votes. Previous editions were determined by a tally of votes from members of The Diners Club World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, reports Today.
