Man who sucker-punched Amos Yee arrested; teen still remains in Changi Prison for breaching bail

The middle-aged dude who sucker-punched Amos Yee yesterday outside the courthouse before running away like a little bitch? Arrested by the police.

A report was made yesterday against the mysterious man in red who slapped the 16-year-old hard on his left cheek as he was making his way to the state courts for a pre-trial conference. The incident was captured on footage by the many reporters and cameraman who were present, but none bothered to interfere with the assault nor tried to apprehend the attacker.

The police have confirmed that a 49-year-old man was arrested in relation to the case.

Minister for Law K Shanmugam took to his Facebook page yesterday to express his disgust about the incident, condemning the attack and calling for the arrest of the attacker. “People may have strong feelings about Amos (or anyone else who is charged). But we have to leave it to the courts to deal with them,” he wrote.

“Taking the law into one’s own hands cannot be condoned”

Though it may sound like good news to Yee, not everything is going well for him. The teenager has been sent back to remand in Changi Prison after his bailor discharged himself following Yee’s stubborn refusal to obey the conditions of his bail, The Straits Times reports.

He breached his bail conditions which disallow him from posting, uploading or otherwise distribute any comment or content — whether directly or indirectly — to any social media, online service or website while his case is ongoing.

Stupidly enough, the boy wrote and published two blog posts on Wednesday, one of which detailed his relationship with his allegedly physically abusive dad and another which questioned the “ridiculous terms” of his bail.

During his pre-trial conference yesterday, Yee was asked to take down his latest posts, but the hard-headed youth refused to comply.

He’ll be appearing in court once again on Monday for another pre-trial conference, where a trial date will be picked.
