Amos Yee pleads not guilty to 2 charges, third charge for his LKY statement shelved

Singapore’s big bad blogger Amos Yee has pleaded not guilty to charges of making offensive or wounding remarks against Christianity and of circulating obscene imagery at the start of his two-day trial this morning.

If he is found guilty of the first charge, he could face up to three years in jail and/or a fine. For the second charge, he could be in jail for up to three months and/or fined.

The third charge on Yee, for his statements on Singapore’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, will be dealt with later, according to a Channel NewsAsia report.

Yesterday prosecution offered to lower bail and remove the condition that Yee report to the police every morning if the 16 year old agrees to continue seeing a psychiatrist, but he declined the offer.

What a total badass.

The teen’s parents were reportedly at the trial today, as well as bloggers Roy Ngerng and Andrew Loh, as well as lawyer Teo Soh Lung.
