Zouk confirms move to Clarke Quay, the party’s not over yet

It’s definitely happening.

Popular homegrown nightclub Zouk has confirmed that is relocating to Clarke Quay, based on several media reports. It hopes to begin operations by September next year, much to the joy of the residents in that area, who have been none too pleased with the noise pollution and littering.

This also means that patrons of the club can finally rest easy knowing that their favourite nightspot will still live on.

The new venue is a a 30,000 sq ft space in Clarke Quay’s Block C, where Lifebrandz-owned F&B establishments and nightspots like Fenix Room, Ministry of Sound and HopDog used to be.

Unlike these outlets which were forced to shut down due to dwindling business, the 24-year-old iconic club is determined to “continue its legacy for the next generation” at its new home, said Zouk founder Lincoln Cheng in an interview with The Straits Times.

Cheng added that he was going to sink in $10 million for the new digs, and that he had “very carefully” considered every potential venue from the location and accessibility to the cost of building it up.

In June last year, a “Save Zouk” campaign was launched after news broke that its Jiak Kim street lease would not be renewed after expiring at the end 2015.

In the lead up to club’s final anniversary at Jiak Kim Street next year, a series of parties and farewell bashes are in the works, so party-goers can bid a bittersweet farewell to this superclub’s old home with a blast.
