Heroes Assemble: Over 30 passersby work together to lift trailer truck to free trapped man

Get your faith in humanity righteously restored this morning. In case you missed out on this yesterday, witness this mighty display of mass gallantry as over 30 random strangers bolted to help push and lift a very heavy trailer truck in order to save a man pinned underneath. Somebody should be overdubbing the clip with ‘One People, One Nation, One Singapore‘.

Captured and uploaded online by Suan Wang, he filmed the whole spectacle from his sixth-floor office at Hyflux Innovation Centre, near the junction of Bendemeer Road and Boon Keng Road where the accident occurred.

According to The Straits Times, the injured man that everyone managed to rescue is believed to be a 35-year-old South Korean who was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Fortunately, he only escaped with a leg fracture and underwent surgery last night.

While details on how the accident occurred in the first place are blurry, some witnesses believed that he was hit by the truck while crossing the road and got pinned underneath. With the heroic might of the passersby combined, the truck was lifted high enough for the South Korean man to be pulled out quickly.

Police have arrested the 25-year-old lorry driver and are conducting further investigations into the case.

Meanwhile, the 30-odd people who helped out are carrying on with their everyday lives, but now surely armed with a story to tell their friends and loved ones.
