UK toy giant Hamleys officially opens first Singapore store in Plaza Singapura

The oldest toy store in the world with 255 years of heritage is set to open its flagship store in Singapore today.

Plaza Singapura mentioned in a news release that Hamleys will occupy 12,000 sq ft across two floors and over 10,000 toys will be displayed. The famous Hamleys bear and fictional characters such as Barbie, Peppa Pig and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will also make an appearance on on special occasions, it added.

Currently, United Kingdom-based toy giant Hamleys has a presence in 17 countries with 11 stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and 43 international stores in cities including Moscow, Dubai, Mumbai, Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur. Outlets in South Africa, Vietnam and Mexico are planned for the second half of the year.

CEO of Hamleys United Kingdom, Gudjon Reynisson said that Hamleys is “extremely excited to introduce the iconic Hamleys experience to shoppers in Singapore”.

“Our flagship store at Plaza Singapura offers thousands of quality toys, opportunities for children to play, engaging store design, expertise in service and amazing toy demonstrations – features that make Hamleys ‘The Finest Toy Shop in the World’!”

Everyone of all ages will be excited to experience the joy of toys too.
