Electronic cigarettes and accessories from Malaysia seized by ICA

Here’s something to choke on, vape users.

Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers have seized electronic cigarettes paraphernilia from a Malaysian-registered car on Sunday as it crossed the Woodlands Checkpoint, and its driver and passenger are assisting with the investigations.

Nine sets of electronic cigarettes and 113 bottles of e-cigarette accessories were confiscated, according to the report. The stash were found in a bag placed in the car boot as well as under the rear seat, according to the Health Sicence Authority.

The use of e-cigarettes is not illegal in Singapore — yet — but its sale, importation and distribution is, under Section 16 of the Tobacco (Control of Advertisement and Sales).

This includes vaporisers such as e-cigarettes, e-pipes and e-cigars.

The authorities have advised the public not to purchase or bring e-cigarettes into Singapore, and to refrain from using them.
