Upcoming Potong Pasir development changes name after pressure by St Andrew’s alumni

A residential and commercial project riding on the reputation of Singapore’s St Andrew’s institutions is definitely not getting a warm welcome from its old boys.

The condominium and the mall set to be complete in 2019 was initially supposed to be called The Andrew Residences and The Andrew Village respectively — and that pissed off St Andrew’s alumni, Channel NewsAsia reports. The mixed development is situated pretty close to the St Andrew’s Village, the official compound of all three St Andrews’s school.

They’re upset that a commercial project is taking on the heritage of St Andrew’s complex of schools and churches — which could very well lead to confusion among members of the public.

After getting pressured by the alumni, developer MCC Land has submitted new names to the authorities and is waiting for approval.
