National Gallery Singapore opening to kick off with 2 week-long free entry arts festival

It’s been a long wait for the opening of National Gallery Singapore, but come Nov 24 till Dec 6, everyone is invited to the two-week long arts bash to kick off the launch of the city’s newest museum.

Not only will the public enjoy free admission to the museum’s two permanent galleries for two weeks, there’ll be an Art Carnival at the Padang from Nov 27 to Nov 29.

The National Gallery Singapore experience can be enhanced by way of their Gallery Explorer app, which will be free on Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store from Nov 18 onwards. Developed by the Gallery, the app allows indoor navigation across the 65,000 sq m area, and will actually provide information on the art within the vicinity.

Outside the museum itself, the Padang’s block party lets visitors immerse themselves in interactive art installations, community art workshops and artisanal treats. There will be plays, short films, dance and musical performances and even curators, art critics and architects on hand to speak about the new museum.
