Madonna (might) make her Singapore debut on Feb 28 next year at National Stadium

At 57 years of age, Madonna is still very much alive and kicking in the music world, but you’d be surprised that she’s never stepped foot on our shores before.

The reason why is typically Singaporean in nature — Madonna was banned from performing here due to the fact that her show “borders on the obscene… (and are) known to be objectionable to many on moral and religious grounds” according to The Straits Times.

Even in recent times, Madonna faced another sort of ban by the moral police of Singapore. Her DVD — The Confessions Tour: Live from London — was banned in Singapore because of a segment showing her performing while suspended on a neon cross. Controversial!

The Queen of Pop however has confirmed that her Rebel Heart tour is coming to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Manila, with tickets selling out pretty immediately.

Though no announcement have been made yet, team Madonna has reserved Feb 28 as the date that she’ll be performing for the first time ever in Singapore, live at the National Stadium. Don’t believe it? It’s right on her official website:

Event promoters IMC Live Group — who’ve brought in acts such as Jay Chou, Sodagreen, Mayday and more — are currently working out details between all parties to confirm her Singapore debut next year.

According to Madonna’s website, ticket sales to her show here go live on Dec 22, but so far no concert organisers have announced anything yet. Things are probably still in motion; even IMC Live Group’s keeping mum about it on their Facebook page, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
