3 remembrance sites to be set up ahead of the first anniversary since Lee Kuan Yew’s death

This Mar 23 will mark the first anniversary of founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew’s death, and already plans are being made to commemorate his legacy.

Three remembrance sites will be set up ahead of the anniversary says Chan Chun Sing, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office. The public will be able to pay their tributes at the Istana Park, the Duxton Plain Park in Tanjong Pagar as well as outside Parliament House from Mar 19 until Mar 27.

Featuring special photo panels chronicling the endeavours of the nation’s first prime minister, long queues are expected at the three sites, much like last year’s mourning period. Aside from the three locales, over 100 ground-up initiatives are being organised as well in remembrance of the man.

The best way to remember Lee Kuan Yew however would be to reminisce about the time he was a total badass when he uncovered a CIA plot that might have threatened Singapore’s security during the ’60s.
