Fancy a glimpse of the future? Okay, perhaps that may not be possible just yet. But here’s the next best thing — ‘Future World: Where Art Meets Science’, the new permanent exhibition at the ArtScience Museum.
Once you get past the long and not-so-informative title, the space itself is actually kind of awesome. Co-curated by the museum with Japanese group teamLab, the digital playground — Singapore’s largest — stars 15 art installations that make use of technology to execute super cool stuff.
Plus, everything’s interactive, which means you get to be part of the artworks. That’s great news for anyone who’s been to a gallery or museum and yearned to poke, rub or feel up the displays behind the ‘Do Not Touch’ sign (you know who you are).
Keep an eye out for noteworthy works of art like the ‘Universe of Water Particles’, a stunning eight-metre virtual waterfall; the ‘Light Ball Orchestra’, made out of bright spheres that change colour and sound when touched; and the ‘Sketch Aquarium’, a virtual aquatic world that everyone can contribute to with two-dimensional drawings (you can even ‘feed’ the sea creatures).
‘Future World: Where Art Meets Science’ is at the ArtScience Museum from Mar 12, 10am-7pm. Residents $14, visitors $17.
