Socio-political sites Inconvenient Questions and Six-Six News end operations

Citing parched pools of funds, socio-political websites Inconvenient Questions and Six-Six News have called it a day on their operations.

TODAY revealed yesterday that the two sites made the decision to draw the curtains after hitting a dead end on getting investors interested in carrying on their funding.

Six-Six News — which dealt in comprehensive socio-political articles, think pieces and lifestyle content — only went live in June last year. Though it was reported that they shut down early last month, the site seems to be still active, with an article published as recent as two days ago.

Six-Six News publisher Kannan Chandran had informed contributors that the site was shutting down due to lack of funding from investors, who were “re-evaluating their commitment”. The site shut down officially on April 1.

Meanwhile, Inconvenient Questions lasted slightly longer than Six-Six News, considering they launched a couple of months earlier than the latter. Founded by former Nominated Member of Parliament Viswa Sadasivan, its motif was on long form commentaries, op-eds and video content on socio-political issues — but they weren’t enough to attract funds to sustain operations into its second year. The site will be ceasing operations next Saturday, but Sadasivan is considering setting up another platform some time in the future.
