12-year-old boy rushes to help injured traffic accident victims — while others simply took pictures

The future is looking bright for 12-year-old Ashvin. According to a viral Facebook post made by his sister, the selfless boy was the only one with heart and compassion in the aftermath of a traffic accident — while others (adults included) simply whipped out their mobile phones to take pictures, he was the only one who bothered to provide help.

Proud sister Laava Gunasegaran couldn’t hide her delight in sharing an anecdote about her little brother yesterday — coincidentally the last day of Kindness Month.

While crossing the road in Yishun yesterday, a car crashed into another in the middle of the junction near him. Thinking nothing of the impatient traffic around him, Ashvin went up to the drivers of both cars to check on their condition, asking if they need his help. It was pretty serious — one driver was trapped in her car while the other was pregnant, and sustained a bleeding leg. It was Ashvin who told his friends to call for an ambulance, and presumably, help came quickly.

Ring the bell of shame for the adults who weren’t concerned about the state of the injured victims. When asked why other adults around him weren’t helping, the boy said (full of innocence probably) that he didn’t know why, and noted that people were too busy “crowding around around taking pictures or videos”. Bless his heart.

“I really hope the people affected in this accident are okay & I love the fact that Ashvin was so kind & calm during the whole situation,” Laava wrote.

“I’m so proud of my little Brother & I know this kinda things don’t happen everyday but honestly though, how many of us would actually stop to ask the person if she’s okay?”

Keep on keeping on Ashvin, you the man now dawg.
