In trying, heartbreaking times such as these for Muslims around the world, photographer Darren Soh captured a sliver of hope and beauty for the Muslim community here.
Of course, you’d remember Soh as the highly-regarded lensman behind that electrifyingly viral image he took of a lightning storm crackling above Sembawang. The landscape photographer is back in the nationwide esteem again when he recently took his finesse to another location to snap a picture that’s just as moving.
Timely? Of course it is. The recent spate of ISIS-led bombings in multiple Muslim-majority countries are just too harrowing to learn about, especially since they’ve all been happening in the final days of Ramadan. Far away from home — where 28 were recently killed in a hostage crisis — the migrant workers kept their faith strong on the last night of Tarawih prayers despite their labour-intensive jobs here.
The video clip that Soh captured yesterday night is another poignant piece. There’s just something about the serenity and the unity of their movement in prayers — amidst the passing trucks and fellow migrant workers — that speaks volumes about their strength of faith.
