Pokémon Go not likely to be released in Southeast Asia so soon

Soz pokébros and pokégals, reports of the highly-demanded smartphone game arriving here today have been greatly exaggerated.

A couple of days ago, rumours were abound on social media, saying that Pokémon Go will be launching here very soon — within the “next 48 hours” even, according to Hypebeast. Alas, it’s already been 48 hours and still the wretched imitation Pocket GO – Poké Evolution remains at the top of the list when we looked for the official app by Niantic and Nintendo.

No. Just… no.

Niantic’s hired PR help Fortyseven Communications themselves have come out to dispel the gossip.

“The team is currently heads down working on the game,” wrote Fortyseven Communications vice president Chris Kramer in an email to IGN. “We do not have any announced plans for countries beyond New Zealand, Australia, US and Germany at the moment.”  Niantic chief executive John Hanke revealed to Reuters that he expects the game to launch in Japan and South Korea first.

Yes, yes, bummer indeed. But Pokémon Go was just unleashed in the UK, which means you’re another step closer to finally making the choice between Team Mystic, Team Instinct or Team Valor (Team Valor FTW, of course, all other scrubs git gud).

In any case, we’re more than willing to wait for Niantic to fix all the mapping issues and server crashes that have inundated current users ever since it launched last week. If you want to get ahead of everyone else, there’s always our guide on how you can play it right now.
