McDonald’s Singapore responds to viral footage of worms wriggling in Filet-O-Fish packaging

Video clips seeming to show little wriggling worms found inside the packaging of a Filet-O-Fish burger went viral over the weekend, but let’s be honest — that won’t stop us from eating at McDonald’s.

Facebook user Angela Qiqi could barely hold her outrage at the apparent discovery of several unwelcome critters inside the box of her burger when she was at a Maccas outlet in West Coast Park. Fearing she might have consumed a little extra protein in her meal, she kept drinking hot water in hopes of killing the worms inside her stomach (although we’re pretty sure the gastric acid would have done that already).

The worms look familiar, too — a similar incident transpired in October last year, where a customer lost his appetite after spotting several white worms on the sausage patty of his Big Breakfast set.

McDonald’s is currently looking into the matter, as it should. “First, let me emphasise that food quality and safety are our top priority,” said McDonald’s Singapore director of operations Patricia Yong, who added that they’ve been in contact with the customer.

“We are looking into this very closely and are doing everything we can to establish the facts of the matter.”
