It’s a premise that’s typically reserved for fantasy fiction — a shrill, cackling old lady spouting pure hatred, damning death for all and using animal parts to torment people.
Unfortunately, it’s a reality all too real for a resident at Block 247 along Tampines Street 21, who has put up with vicious taunts and other harassment methods by a neighbour. In fact, 61-year-old widow Marliah Jonet has been suffering the abuse since April 2010, Yahoo Singapore reports.
A sample of the hellish experience was posted on YouTube recently and shared on Facebook by Hanis Hussey, Marliah’s sister-in-law. Being called a rotten pig, hearing taunts about dead family members (Marliah lost her husband and daughter), finding pork meat on her doorstep during Ramadan — it’s enough to drive someone insane.
Clearly, the old lady is of severely unsound mind. The authorities have allegedly been of no help either, according to Hanis’ account — police have not been able to apprehend the woman or even do anything to stop the cruelty. With the video clip already going viral, hopefully something will be done to resolve the turmoil.
