This new design series by Gallery & Co tells the Singapore story on tees, postcards and posters

The Artist Project is a new design series by Gallery & Co, launched for Singapore’s 51st birthday. Showcasing the Singapore story through art, this merch line is inspired by the National Gallery Singapore’s ‘Siapa Nama Kamu’ (Malay for ‘What is your name?’) exhibit. The artworks are divided into three sub-themes — Majulah, State of Mind and Biodata — and will be launched in July, October and next January respectively.

The first drop (which is already out) features local artists like Darius Ou, Fifth Column, Robert Zhao, Somewhere Else and Vanessa Ban, as well as international names such as Spain’s Hey studio, Taiwan’s Ken Tsai and South Korea’s Na Kim. In the collection are a range of posters, postcards, zip pouches, totes, tees and tea towels.

Check out the highlights below.

Postcards by Hey studio, Somewhere Else and Vanessa Ban.
The handshake illustration is part of Hey studio’s ‘Fusion’ series, and represents cooperation, brotherhood and support in (what else) Singapore’s two favourite colours — red and white.
Another one of Hey studio’s designs, this Merlion illustration highlights the multicultural nature of Singapore and represents the origins of the island.
Visual artist Robert Zhao describes his image as such: “The relationship that we have with nature, even when nature seems to be all around us, is one that is of control, especially that of the lion state.”
Vanessa Ban’s designs encapsulate how “Singapore is best represented by progress.” She says, “The vision, determination and tenacity of our leaders and our people is best represented by how far we have come as a country.”

Gallery & Co is at #01-05 National Gallery Singapore, 1 St Andrew’s Rd.
