If Old Airport Road Food Centre is your go-to hawker, you’re not alone. The food centre recently took first place on TripAdvisor’s list of top cheap eats in Singapore, based on reviews over a period of one year. It was built almost 40 years ago, and remains one of our country’s biggest, with a wide variety of local dishes like char kway teow and Hokkien mee.
Also in the top three are Indian eateries Zam Zam at North Bridge Road and Komala Villas at Serangoon Road. Taking up the rest of the top ten line-up are familiar names such as Chinatown Complex, Makansutra Gluttons Bay, Wee Nam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice, Food Republic at Wisma Atria, Ya Kun Kaya Toast at China Street, Malaysian Food Street and Satay By The Bay.
Not quite sure how some of these places qualify as ‘best cheap eats’ in Singapore, but hey, guess the tourists like them.
