Someone please tell these celebs their dabs for Channel 8’s CNY promo are really bad

Dab, or dabbing, is a dance move popularised in 2016 where the dabber simultaneously drops their head into their elbow like they’re sneezing and raises the other hand up to the sky. With origins in the Atlanta hip-hop scene (Bad and Boujee, waddup), the dance move went viral through song, music videos, online tutorials, Twitter, Vine and the usual spectrum of social media. Everyone’s doing it — hell, even Hilary Clinton did it on The Ellen Show.

But like any other millennial trend, it gets ruined when the relatively older folks start doing them, and doing them badly too. We can officially decree that dabbing is not cool anymore — since it’s been utilised in Channel 8’s Chinese New Year theme song music video.

Furthermore, these celebs just don’t get the basic essence of dabbing.

Bad…
No…
WHAT.

Scholars have debated if dabbing is dead, but surely this killed it. Fare thee well dabs, you’ve served us well in 2016. To help us remember the glory days of dabbing, below are some of the more majestic ones we’ve bookmarked and kept in an archive, waiting to be sprung in an article when the time came.
