We’ve all experienced the frustrations of sourcing and comparing better promo codes for ride-booking services. (Because why pay full price when you get key in a money-saving code?). It’s hard to deny you don’t feel a tinge of kiasu-ness when Grab and Uber constantly roll out ads and promo codes for various festive seasons.
Well, here’s an idea that may make your life easier. Check this new local app called TaxiBot.
Created by Amos Goh, who’s not a developer by training (so give the guy a break if you encounter teething problems), TaxiBot functions as a Virtual Intelligence of sorts. The time-saving app collates weekly promo codes from Grab and Uber, as well as ComfortDelGro (if anyone still uses that).
At the moment, the collection of info on promo codes is still a manual process for Goh, but he hopes to figure out a way to automatically retrieve the data soon (like we said, he’s a developer by heart).
As of now, the start-up is only available on Facebook Messenger, and its functions are rather limited. We tried it out and found that you can’t really ‘chat’ with the bot without using its pre-determined phrases. It’s straightforward and to the point, so don’t expect any Singaporean convos or hilariously cranky replies like what you’d get from local bus timing app, Bus Uncle.
