3 mynahs found tied up with string; SPCA investigating as suspected cases of cruelty

As if rampant cruelty towards stray cats aren’t enough on SPCA’s plate, they now have to deal with someone who’s been tying up mynahs in the River Valley area.

Right now, they’re on the hunt for the culprit(s) responsible for two suspected cases of cruelty towards the common bird. On Jan 25, SPCA officers were alerted to Block 78 along Indus Road, where they found a mynah with its feet and neck tied with multiple strings. Three strings alone were attached onto its legs. It didn’t survive the ordeal.

It was three days later that two other mynahs were found with their legs bound together in the men’s restroom at Delta House along Alexandra Road. According to The Straits Times, members of a Buddhist meditation group found the birds and removed the string. Aside being tied up, the birds appeared to be unharmed.

SPCA is now offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those behind the fowl acts.
