Anthony Chen’s ‘Ilo Ilo’ opens in New York

Celebrated Singaporean film Ilo Ilo premiered in New York yesterday.

The 2013 film, which depicts the struggles of a Singaporean family during the 1997 Asian financial crisis, and their relationship with a newly arrived Filipino domestic helper, is now showing at the Cinema Village and Lincoln Center in Manhattan.

Anthony Chen’s directorial debut has garnered numerous awards, among them, the 2013 Camera d’Or and four Golden Horse awards.

Ilo Ilo will also be shown across other various locations in the US, including Los Angeles next week.
