Organisers suggest alternating between National and Jalan Besar stadiums for Suzuki Cup

Due to the persisting pitch conditions at the new National Stadium, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFPP) and Sports Hub Private Limited (SHPF) have decided to alternate this year’s Suzuki Cup matches between the controversial venue and the Jalan Besar Stadium.

In a meeting, the two organisers considered that despite Jalan Besar’s 8,000-seat stadium being significantly smaller, it was a good way to spread out the tournament’s two matches a day and ensure the condition of the new National Stadium, which has been receiving non-stop flak since it was launched for use.

According to Today, SHPL is working to improve the quality of the pitch in the next six weeks before the tournament, which may affect the Maori All Blacks-Asia Pacific Dragons international rugby friendly taking place on Nov. 15. The event may be relocated, or even postponed.
