Singapore politicians get their selfies on at Madame Tussauds

Travel and pap around the world for a chance to take photos with your favourite stars? #aintnobodygotthetimefothat.

Visitors of the soon-to-open Madame Tussauds Singapore will get to ‘meet’ not just international artists like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Audrey Hepburn and Madonna, but also important political figures like Nelson Mandela, US President Barack Obama and get this: our very own Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Sure, they’re only wax figurines, but they’re pretty darn realistic, and they all have a story to tell, such as local football hero Fandi Ahmad’s doll, which was designed to emulate his younger self during the Singapore Lions days.

PM Lee toured the museum on Tuesday, took a selfie with his wax figurine and shared it on Instagram and Facebook. Former PM Goh also joined in the fun, taking close-up shots with his doppelganger.

Probably the most endearing local showcase however, is former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew’s couple set-up with his late wife. The two are smiling, and dressed in red and white — Singapore’s national colours.

Other local personalities given their own wax figurines are director Jack Neo, singer Stefanie Sun and Zoe Tay, otherwise known as the Queen of Caldecott Hill.

Madame Tussauds Singapore official opens this Saturday at the Imbiah Lookout in Sentosa.
