Singaporeans really love their smartphones: Google

Enabling our emotional love affair with the internet, smartphones have become a true necessity in our daily lives. A recent study by Google has proven that not only are we addicted to our little pocket computers, but Singapore also ranks top in the world when it comes to owning smartphones. 

The internet giant’s Consumer Barometer details insights into web consumption from around the world as a free tool to understand how people use the internet. 

 

Singaporeans really love their smartphones: Google

The study reveals that 85 percent of Singaporeans are smartphone users, the highest in the world. In comparison, only 46 percent of Japan’s population and 57 percent of Americans use smartphones as their mobile device. 

Google Southeast Asia’s managing director Julian Persaud remarks that the results should be something that Singaporean businesses should pay attention to, and points to a necessity for them to ensure the provision of mobile optimised sites and smartphone applications.
