Just under 12 hours after Nuffnang blogger Xiaxue (also known by her real name Wendy Cheng) published her exposé on Gushcloud, the shamed ‘influencer’ network wrote a response on their Facebook page, complete with a proposed hashtag:
Bloggers from the Gushcloud network, some of whom were mentioned in Xiaxue’s post, also took to social media and their own websites to defend their company:
Of particular interest is Kife Ng‘s blog post, which raised some substantial points about Xiaxue being a hypocrite, mostly with regards to masking ads:
Naturally incensed, Xiaxue dug out more dirt, aimed specifically at Wee — screenshots of an alleged Whatsapp conversation he’d had with a Nuffnang blogger:
This saga could not have come at a worse time (no presents for guessing who we can thank for that) — fans (and haters) are using the opportunity to name, blame and shame, and considering the number of bloggers in Singapore connected to both Nuffnang and Gushcloud, there’s an infinite number of platforms to do it.
Just remember guys: Santa’s pen is probably poised over his lists as we speak, ready to strike out whoever’s unworthy of his visit.
