Apple Pay rolls out in Singapore today; support for DBS, UOB and Standard Chartered expected soon

Two years since its release, Apple’s mobile payment and digital wallet service finally arrives in Singapore today, allowing customers to pay for their purchases awkwardly using their iPhones, Apple Watches and iPads.

With the launch here, Apple Pay is now available in six countries, and only the second expansion in Asia. The caveat is that it’s only able to use American Express cards right now — but the good news is that support for credit and debit cards from Visa and banks such as DBS, UOB and Standard Chartered can be expected soon.

Apple Pay can now be used at stores such as Starbucks, Uniqlo, Fairprice, Shaw Theatres and a couple more, while upcoming developments will see you waving your devices at 7Eleven, Guardian and —surpisingly — Sheng Siong.

More details available on the Apple Pay (Singapore) site.
