The Guardian has named 17-year-old Irfan, son of legendary Singapore sportsman and current LionsXII head coach Fandi Ahmad, as one of the top 40 young talents in world football.
China’s Li Zhongyi, Germany’s Benjamin Henrichs, Japan’s Daisuke Kasai and a Seong Jung-hyu from South Korea, also made it into the list.
John Duerden from The Guardian described the six-foot-tall boy as one with “a good touch”. With his recent training with clubs in Chile, Duerden believes it’ll equip him with the “street smarts and the roughness to terrorise defences back in Asia.”
